Nitrogen is an inert gas; suitable for a wide range of industrial applications. It covers numerous aspects of manufacturing chemicals, processing, handling, and shipping. Nitrogen is most often used as a purging gas because it is not reactive and possesses excellent blanketing properties. Removal of contaminations, process streams in stripping methods, and sparging are a few places where nitrogen is used. It is also used to store explosive compounds safely and prevent explosions of combustible specks of dust. Did you know? Two-thirds of all the nitrogen produced by industries around the world is sold as gas. In comparison, one-third is sold as a liquid. Since nitrogen is an inert gas, it is used in an atmosphere where oxygen poses fire, oxidation, and explosion hazards. Nitrogen is colorless, odorless and can construct multiple bonds with many elements and compounds.

Specialty gases are unique mixes or concentrations compared to typical compressed gases. If your business has a need for a specific makeup of gases, we’re here to help you with your industrial and medical projects. The following are types of specialty gases we provide to our customers:

  • Food grade
  • High Purity
  • Ultra-high purity (99.9%)
  • Gas mixes

Most people primarily know carbon dioxide as a greenhouse gas that contributes to climate change. And it is true that carbon dioxide - CO2, as it is also known, harms our environment when it is released into the air. But what if it isn’t? In that case, it is a highly useful and very versatile material that has many different uses across a wide range of industries. One of carbon dioxide’s most universal applications is as a way to carry energy, mostly as a refrigerant or coolant. This not only applies to its liquid and gaseous forms but also to solid CO2, which is better known as “dry ice.” In addition, because of its inert qualities, which means that it does not react well (or at all) with other materials, it is also used as an inertization agent in the chemical and food industries. As such, it can help prevent the oxidization of products in the manufacturing sector.

Acetylene forms an important part of many crucial processes in industries. Although the current uses of acetylene are few, the scope is not limited. In-depth research is being conducted in this regard to ensure utilization of this resource in the most beneficial manner possible. Acetylene is an important natural gas that is put to various uses including:

  • Portable Lighting
  • Welding, Cutting, and Heat Treating
  • Production of Chemicals
  • Used in Production of Polyethylene Plastics

Welding and Metal Fabrication
Argon is most commonly used in the welding and fabrication industry as an inert shielding agent. Since it is such a versatile gas, it can be used for TIG and MIG welding of non-ferrous materials. It is a popular choice amongst welders because it helps to protect the molten metal from contamination caused by atmospheric gases.
Electrical Light Bulbs
Incandescent lightbulbs are typically filled with inert gases such as argon. Since inert gases don’t react with other elements, using argon for lighting helps to elongate the lifespan of the bulb while preventing the filament from decaying. Argon is commonly used in the aerospace industry in the production of lightbulbs and lasers.
Food and Beverage
Packaging food and beverages with argon helps to extend the shelf-life, maintain freshness and increase the overall quality of the items. Argon is a great choice for packing because it displaces oxygen more efficiently and prevents oxidation.
Automotive
Argon is also commonly used in the automotive industry as a multi-purpose gas in the manufacturing sector. Due to its inert property, it can be used across many different applications such as metal production, fabrication, processing and more.
Construction
Argon gas is used to help increase efficiency and performance in thermal windows. Each section of these windows is filled with gas, like argon, in order to slow the transfer of heat through the windows. Argon is a good choice over air fill because it does not create a layer of fog when the weather gets cooler.
